Another year has come and gone...

A few years ago, I had this wild idea to start a business out of mine and my sister's new-found hobby of photography. I heard that "everybody wants to be a photographer" and that every teenage girl who owns an SLR is a "professional photographer," but I didn't care---I loved photography, and that's what I wanted to do. "It's worth a shot," was my motto in 2010. That first year was a learning year, with a photo shoot here and there, mostly of my dear friends and family who loved me enough to let me capture their smiles. I am SO thankful for my first year clients. Thank you for looking past the mistakes and for giving me a shot! The next year, I started seeing new faces. Friends of friends started referring Jade Street, and we were THRILLED about every phone call or email from those that booked a shoot.  My sister and I shot three weddings, and they were both TERRIFYING and TERRIFIC. Things started picking up each month.

And then there was this past year. At the beginning of 2012, I decided to go all in--to quit my nanny job and focus on photography full-time. It was a leap of faith.

And God provided. He has been bringing more and more of you wonderful clients to Jade Street's door, and we have continued to learn and grow. It has been a wonderful year, and I just want to say to all of you out there who have chosen Jade Street to capture your special moments---thank you SO MUCH. Thank you for entrusting us to document your memories! And another thank you to those of you who have referred us to others and to those of you who visit this site to look at the photographs. We love to read the comments and to know that you are sharing in our joy. We are so grateful to get to know you and your stories, and we love and appreciate all of you. Thank you for a great year!!!

As we learn from 2012 and plan for 2013, I just want to give you a heads up that there will be some changes happening here at Jade Street. Good ones, of course. So keep your eye out and we'll keep you posted!

I will go ahead and let you in on one change I'm excited about...

Wooden USB drives will be included in all of our wedding packages.

More fun changes to come in 2013. Happy New Year!!!
