Phil and Emily are married! These two are just so sweet, so completely smitten with each other that it was such a joy to share in their wedding celebrations. And what a beautiful wedding it was---such an elegant mix of vintage, rustic, and DIY (my favorite things!) From the groomsmen's bow-ties and the bridesmaid's handmade jewelry to the altar that the father of the bride built, every detail was well-thought and all came together beautifully. My sister and I just wanted to steal the bride's bouquet, a gorgeous mixture of pinks, greens, and creams of the prettiest flowers (it had succulents in it! Succulents!)
The wedding was held at Scenic Valley Inn, a lovely Bed and Breakfast hidden in the woods near Manhattan, Kansas. The day started off very rainy, and the wedding party was a little nervous because the ceremony was supposed to be outdoors. As time went on, the downpour continued and the weather station kept predicting the rains to last later and later. However, the bride was all smiles---nothing could dampen her spirits on this day. Through tears, Emily told her father that the day was more beautiful than she could have ever imagined and that she was so grateful for the the rains to come and cool the summer's heat. What a beautiful perspective.
About thirty minutes before the ceremony was supposed to start, the rain stopped and Emily and Phil had their wedding outdoors as planned. By the end of the ceremony, the sun was shining.
Emily and Phil, thank you for allowing us to document this very special day! Your love for Jesus and for each other shines bright, and we know that you will enjoy God's gift of marriage.
